Anna O. (Bertha Pappenheim) was diagnosed with hysteria, a collective name of a series of physical and psychological disturbances as time missing, dependency on drugs, facial pain, paralysis, disturbances of vision, hearing and speak, hallucination, loss of consciousness, change of personality accompanied by confusion. Her case study is published in the book “Studies on Hysteria”, written by Sigmund Freud and his mentor Joseph Breuer and played a major role in the development of psychoanalysis and talking cure.
