VENETIAN BANKER, 2013
or History repeats itself
23 by 50 by 60 cm. Paper, pigments, resin, wood.
This ANNA AGTMA art work shows a Venetian banker hidden behind his mask after the Rialto bank meltdown at the end of the Quattrocento. The collapse was chronicled by the diarist Marin Sanudo. Frederic C. Lane together with Rheinhold C. Muller linked the bankruptcy to Wall Street and the European financial crisis in “The Venetian money market: banks, panics and the public debt, 1200 - 1500”.
